Kennoway sure of at least spot in play-off for Super League place

-

The top three all won so it is as you were at the top of the table.

In their penultimate fixture, leaders Kennoway Star eased their way to a 3-0 win at Downfield.

Taking advantage of dreadful Downfield defending, Kyle Wilson grabbed all three goals as the Fifers guaranteed at least a play-off spot for the Super League.

The Spiders are back in action tonight when they face Bonnyrigg Rose in the East of Scotland Cup with a 6.15pm kick-off.

Paul Marr’s side are struggling, however, with a number of injuries and other players unavailable and the Spiders boss may have to call on players who are less than 100% fit to make up the squad.

Meanwhile, second-placed Forfar West End returned from Whitburn with three points, but left it late to snatch the only goal of the game.

Almost the length of the table separates the two sides, but you wouldn’t have guessed that from how evenly this match was contested.

The sucker punch for the hosts came in the final minute with easily Forfar’s best move of the game.

Callum Petrie’s low shot was only parried low down at the post by hosts’ keeper Horne, and Graeme Hart got the final touch.

Tayport’s Gary Sutherland came back to haunt former club St Andrews by scoring the only goal of the game.

Tayport prevailed in the first half and deservedly led thanks to Sutherland’s header on the halfhour mark.

The home side came more into the game after the break but failed to capitalise.

That defeat deepens Saints’ relegation worries.

At Warout, Glenrothes’ hopes of completing a hat-trick of wins were spoiled by Tranent, who ran out 3-0 winners.

Goals from Kane Patterson, Ben Miller and Stephen Manson undid the Glens’ ambitions.
