CHART-TOPPING girl band Little Mix yesterday revealed plans for a huge outdoor concert in the North East next summer as part of a nationwide tour.

Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards (who are both from South Shields), Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock will be at the Durham Emirates ground in Chester-le-Street on Thursday, July 16, just two days before Westlife bring their Stadiums in the Summer tour there.

The world’s biggest girl band will perform to fans across England, Scotland and Wales on the tour, which will see their return to Chester-le-Street after packing out the ground back in 2017.

Speaking about the Summer 2020 Tour, Little Mix said: ”Performing live is our favourite thing to do as a band. We love it.

“Our last summer tour was one of our favourites ever, so we can’t wait for some more brilliant outdoor shows next year. We want everyone to come party with us in the sunshine!”

Emirates Riverside chief operating officer Richard Dowson added: ”We are delighted to be welcoming Little Mix back to Emirates Riverside. They always put on a fantastic show and the crowd loved them last time they played in Durham.

“The North East have a real affinity with the group and we are sure there will be a huge crowd ready to welcome them.” Little Mix have firmly established their reputation as one of the biggest groups around. Alongside massive tours of Europe, Australia, Japan and the US, the group have just completed their mammoth LM5 Arena Tour, which took in cities across Europe, the UK and Ireland, including five sold-out dates at London’s O2 Arena and three last month at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle.

They have sold more than 50 million records worldwide, collected more than 17 million Spotify listeners, received more than three billion Youtube views, and notched up 12 billion streams worldwide.

Record sales have seen them notch up a total of four UK No 1 singles, four platinum-selling albums and nine platinum-selling singles, surpassing a record previously held by the Spice Girls.

Their 2016 album Glory Days was the biggest-selling album by a female group this century in the

UK, alongside being named the longest-reigning Top 40 album for a girl group ever. They have just released a Christmas single.
