Make sure your pets have great fun this autumn

-

IT’S nearly time for Halloween! Our annual Halloween party is this Saturday, October

26, at Benton North Farm, Benton Lane, NE12 8EH. Come down from 1.30pm until 3.30pm to join in the fun for this year’s Spooky Spectacular. Entry is free for all.

Haunted house preparations are under way and this year is set to be the best yet. We’ll be playing a whole host of games that are sure to keep the kids entertained and the adults can join in too.

Pawfect Cuppa will be open for refreshments and we can do take out too so you can watch the kids having fun whilst being warm with a brew and maybe even a sweet or savoury treat too. Halloween is such a fun time of year, especially for the kids but please do remember your furry friends too as it can be a scary and dangerous time for them. Please do make sure that chocolate and sweets

are kept out of reach of your pets as neither of those is good for them.

Walk dogs before dark and make sure they aren’t left alone in the garden. Likewise with cats, let them out during the day if possible and try to keep them in at night.

Safe spaces are brilliant for pets to make them feel secure and happy and TV or radio will help to drown out any spooky sounds. Finally, pet costumes can be cute but please don’t force your pet to wear a costume if they aren’t comfortable in

one. We’re heading into a very fun time of year for humans – so let’s make it just as fun and comfortable for pets too.

Our next event after Halloween will be our Christmas Market at Benton, which is taking place on Thursday, November 28, from 3pm until 8pm. We have a variety of stalls booked to come along for you to grab some Christmas goodies.

We will have food vendors as well as Pawfect Cuppa (the hot chocolates are a must try!) and of course a

Santa’s Grotto. Entry is £1 for adults; kids go free and dogs are welcome too.

We are always looking for festive decorations, whether that be Halloween or Christmas, so if you are having a clear out, we would very much welcome donations of unwanted decorations. Donations are taken at either of our shelters or charity shops.

Animals for homes:

■ We have some very good news to share. Angel is now looking for her forever home. She is a four-year-old Beagle crossbreed who has been in our care since June 2019. We have recently been appealing for help with Angel’s veterinary bill as she had an operation to repair her cruciate ligament in September this year. Angel has now been given the all-clear from the vet and she is now looking for a home. Due to her recent surgery, Angel is looking for a very special home. If you think you could offer this gorgeous girl the perfect home, please call our team on 0191 215 0435 for more information.

■ Dudley, cat number 584, is approximately three years old and he arrived with us in April 2019. He is a very laidback young boy who needs a little extra time to get used to people; due to this Dudley is looking for a quiet but loving forever home.
