Cannon fire two past a stunned Mill

-

BLACKHALL Mill and Chopwell suffered a setback in their pursuit of another title challenge in Division One as they went down 2-0 at home to Winlaton Crown and Cannon.

Goals from Simon Reed and Daryl Scott saw the newlypromoted visitors come away with maximum points.

In-form Consett Top Club returned from Oxhill Central with a slender 4-3 victory thanks to counters from Stephen Davison, Michael Bell, Dan Parker and Andrew McIntosh.

A double from Joe Gill and a single effort from Jon Davies were in vain for Oxhill.

Consett Scotch Arms remain top of the pile as a hat-trick from the division’s leading scorer Dan Walker and strikes from Andrew Whitfield and Luke Richardson steered them to a 5-1 win over Stanley Ball Alley, who had Liam Ridley on target.

Hat-tricks from Scott Watson and Aaron Wilkinson helped South Moor Sports to a thumping 7-3 success over Consett The Barn.

Liam Dixon claimed the other, while Rob McConnell netted two and Zak Atkinson one for Barn.

Rob Blemings notched twice and Stephen Kirkbride and Kieron Gohery once each in Consett Cricketers Ex-Juniors’ 4-2 victory at Lanchester Cricket Club, who registered through Steven Smithson and James Allan.

Just goal difference keeps West Kyo Earl Grey top of the Division Two table as they were thumped 8-2 by fellow promotion hopefuls Real Winlaton Vulcan.

The hosts made it five league wins from five as Owen Finney scored three, Darren Heath two and Josh McCallan, Adam Cameron and Dan Vandrinala one each - ending Grey’s 100 per cent record in the process.

Jake Hall and Jack Watson netted for the visitors.

East Stanley WMC are the only other team to boast a 100% record as they again hit double figures in putting 10 without reply past Stanley Imperial Hotel.

Castleside Horse and Groom won for the first time as they edged an 11-goal clash with High Handenhold Bird Inn.

Mark Metcalfe struck twice and Ant Sands, Curtis Moore, Dan Murray and Cameron Etheridge also found the target.
