Blaze a trail to farm for fun

- By SIMON DUKE

THERE’S a brand new Bonfire event ready to heat things up for 2018.

Say hello to The Big Blaze which will take place in Burnopfield on Saturday, November 3, two days before Bonfire Night.

And there’s way more than fireworks on the menu.

Set deep within wooded farmland, Lintz Hall Farm’s ‘Hidden Fields’ – the same setting for terrifying new Hallowe’en event Psycho Path – is the perfect setting for what looks set to be a real spectacle featuring a full fireworks display to music; a massive bonfire, circus fire performers and a funfair.

Refreshment-wise there will be a fully licensed draught and craft bar featuring award-winning breweries from the North – including Newcastle’s own Wylam Brewery.

And if beer and ale aren’t your tipple of choice, there will also be gin barn serving more than 40 types of gin. Moving on to food, you can tuck into Lebanese food from The Bake One; frankfurters from the Bratwurst wing grill; burgers from Tango Durham and coffee and donuts from R Place.

There is ample parking on site and tickets are available now online from Fatsoma. Early bird tickets are priced £5. Once they’re gone, the price goes up to £7 and then £10.

Children under 10 get in free but still need a ticket and parking passes are £5 which can also be bought online.

Talking to the Chronicle about the event, Richard Tulip, director of Lintz Hall Farm, said: “My family have been farming this land for generations and we have had private bonfires on the farm for friends and family for as long as I can remember. These have grown in popularity over the years so we decided it was time to take it to the next level.”

Event director Nigel Holliday added: “Our fire-show artists have performed all over the UK and that coupled with the outstanding fireworks performance to music and the price, it should be a massive hit with families.

“The street food village for the bonfire has something for everyone and we even have a funfair for people to enjoy before and after the fireworks.”
