A NORTH bus operator has agreed sponsorshi­p with two North football teams.

Stagecoach North East has given financial backing to Gosforth Bohemian Reserves of the Northern Alliance League and Boldon CA Girls’ Under-13s.

The £1,000 cash injection will help towards the cost of new strips and equipment for both clubs.

■■BLAGDON Park (111-1) defeated Whickham (107-4) by nine wickets in the Northumber­land and Tyneside Cricket League’s William Birkett Cup.

■■BENWELL Hill and Blyth claimed victories over Stocksfiel­d (by six wickets) and Seaton Burn (by four wickets) respective­ly in the Nothumberl­and and Tyneside Cricket League’s Ian Appleby Cup.

■■TWEEDMOUTH Harrow face AFC Newbiggin Reserves or North Sunderland in the final of the Sportsworl­d North Northumber­land League’s Runciman Cup on Friday at Alnwick Town FC (7pm).

■■THE Durham Cricket Academy recorded a 51-run victory over Burnopfiel­d in Group A of the Dukes North East Premier League’s T20 Cup.

Tynemouth overcame Eppleton by five wickets while in Group B Sacriston saw off Castle Eden by four runs.

■■RYTON defeated Houghton-le-Spring 8-6 in the latest round of matches in Division Two of the North Durham Golf League.

Other results: Hobson 4 Ravenswort­h 10, Wearside 7 South Shields 7, Crook 8 South Moor 6.

■■TYNEMOUTH Golf Club is hosting a fun playing day for women on July 19 (5.30pm).

The free event is in support of England Golf’s nationwide Get Into Golf initiative designed to attract more women players into the sport.
