-

Jamie Cole hailed ‘a great team performance’ as Silksworth CW beat Richmond Town and the ‘extreme heat’ to progress in the Alan Hood Charity Cup.

Stan Ogunsuyi, Adam Frame and Josh Winthrop all scored as Cole’s side claimed a 3-1 win in North Yorkshire and secured their place in the second round of the competition.

After the game, the Silky boss said: “We started with plenty of energy and created chances but just couldn’t put the ball in the net.

“Finally, after some good build-up play, Stan put his ahead but they pulled one back with a screamer.

“We had to see off pressure after half-time but we did that and Adam Frame put us back in front before Josh Winthrop sealed what was a great team performance in extreme heat."

A brace from Mason Tarrant a goal apiece from Connor Gales and Josh Moody helped Farringdon Detached progress with a dramatic 4-3 home win against Sunderland RCA.

Windscale needed a penalty shoot-out to find their way past South Moor after the two sides battled to a 2-2 draw over 90 minutes and Matthew Johnson and Liam Graham both scored twice in Shotton Colliery’s 5-4 win at Norton and Stockton Ancients.

Durham City’s abysmal start to the season continued in the only preliminary round tie with a 15-1 defeat at Durham Corinthians.

The hosts were belatedly getting their season underway and made an explosive start with Steven Telford and Kieron Richardson leading the way with hat-tricks.

Joe Wilkinson, Cameron Arthurs and Dan Weaver all grabbed braces and there was a goal apiece for Max Stoker, James Hughes and Connor Lyon.

Aaron Flounders netted City’s first goal of the season but it was of little consolation.

FC Hartlepool were also amongst the goals in one of only three league fixtures to take place.

Craig Linsel hit a hat-trick and there were braces for Jamie Tumilty, Lewis Porritt and Reed Henderson as Terry Hill’s men romped to a 120 home win against Annfield Plain.

Phil Angus, Matthew Gardner and Charlie O rd also scored as Hartlepool moved to the top of the table.

Carl Taylor, Adam Byron and Kieron Clark all found the net in Gateshead Leam Rangers’ 3-1 home win against Wolviston and Lewis Walton got the only goal as Darlington Town saw off Shildon Reserves.
