FIRST-PLACE FLORISTS WIN

SUNDERLAND SUNDAY LEAGUE

-

RCA Grangetown Florists remain top of the Sunderland Sunday League Premier Division following a 4-1 home win over Silksworth CW.

Andy Place hit a hat-trick and John Turney added a fourth goal, with Paul Brooke on target for Silksworth.

Anth Ross went one better than Place, scoring four in Southwick’s 7-3 win at Redhouse Last Orders.

O’Neill, Bulmer and Tench replied for the Redhouse, but Southwick were never in trouble thanks to further efforts from Fowler, Butler and Morse.

And The Lansdowne are slowly moving up the table, and in turn near-enough secured their top-flight survival for another season after an easy 3-0 win against Ryhope Forresters.

Mason Burton scored on his return to the side with a clinical strike, Ben Cains added to that midway through the first half and supersub Matty Halliday fired past Sproat in the Ryhope goal.

The Stackyard joined Port of Call at the top of the First Division after beating their title rivals 3-1.

The Stackyard’s Wilson, Forrest and Gales did the damage with Jordan replying for the Port of Call.

A single Danny Snowdon goal was enough to win the game for Pennywell Comrades at home against Herrington, as the hosts recorded back-to-back victories to sustain their interest in the promotion hunt.

Washington Teal Farm and The Stella shared a 4-4 draw, Monaghan, Poole, Rutgers and Teasdale scoring for The Stella and Quinn, Hill and Ryan Moore (2) for the Farmers.

Having dumped them out of the cup last week, Wearmouth CW Juniors extended their hold over Ashbrooke Hendon with a 6-0 victory.

Tommy Callaghan hit a hat-trick, Craig Williams a brace and Reece Young completed the rout.

And Mark Catcheside also claimed a treble as his Grange Park side won at a canter, beating Thorney Close Inn 5-1.

Shaun Conlon and Tansey were also on target, with Kyle Gibson replying for the Inn.

In the Second Division against the King’s Arms, Myers could only manage a point which could prove valuable come the end of the season as they still sit second bottom.

Stokoe scored for Myers, Dixon for the Arms.

The Queen Vic’s winning league form continued as they beat Redhouse 2-0 courtesy of Stavers and Stoker.

Ryhope CW are doing all they can to ensure another season in the Second Division after beating the Victory Club 4-3 win.

Matty Johnstone and Gav Nesbitt both scored two apiece, Thompson, Jackson and Cooke replying for the Victory.

Ryhope had to call on supersub Adam Wasey to overcome The Grange.

His double set his side on their way to victory, with an own goal piling the misery on The Grange.

Washington Athletic’s 4-0 win at The Board Inn was marred by a red card for both teams.

But Washington’s didn’t impede their plain sailing to the points, as Anth Cooper scored two, either side of efforts from Doherty and Sinclair.

And Park View are shifting up the table thanks to a 4-3 win over the plucky Washington New Tavern.

Trewhitt claimed a double, and a Corrighan strike kept the Tavern involved.

But Park View responded brilliantly as Benson, Brannen, Peverley and Southern all scored to win the game.
