Pools boss: It’s like a slow death

-

Hartlepool United’s current plight is like watching a slow death of a club, according to boss Craig Harrison.

Financial troubles have dominated the landscape at Victoria Park in recent weeks, with a winding-up petition following owner John Blackledge pulling the financial plug. Talk of administration and liquidation has followed.

On the field, things have been just as desperate, no wins since November 21

“It’s like watching a slow death, that’s the feeling,” boss Harrison (pictured) said, ahead of tomorrow’s National League trip to Barrow. “The town and club feel like that. It’s slow and that’s my best analogy, watching something die slowly.

“I’m a positive person, so, at this moment in time, from my point of view, I’m going week by week and looking at Saturday and the next game. “We have that to focus on. “Forget what’s going on in the background, we are building up to hopefully have a high point on a Saturday and that’s how I’m channelling my thoughts.”

Harrison added: “The killer for me is wondering about being paid,” he said.

“We got paid last month and then the countdown starts again for next time.

“It ramps up the anxiety as time goes on. We all need to be paid, we all have bills to pay. It’s not nice, and the sooner something is done to stop the uncertainty then we get on with it.”
