Ex-Black Cat Knott happy to be an Imp

-

Former Sunderland reserve-team midfielder Billy Knott has joined League Two newcomers Lincoln City on a one-year contract.

The 24-year-old exBradford City player, who had a successful loan stint as Danny and Nicky Cowley’s Imps clinched the Vanarama National League title last term, was released by Gillingham despite making 24 appearances for the Kent outfit.

“We had a great end to last season and it was only right to come back here and show the fans what I can do,” said ex-England youth international Knott.

“I was probably only half fit last season when I came here and with a full pre-season behind me, I can do a lot more.”

Knott added: “Everyone knows I know Dan and Nick and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

Championship club Birmingham City have allowed forward Greg Stewart to join Derek McInnes’s Aberdeen on a year-long loan.

The 27-year-old was without a goal in 26 appearances last term, after leaving Dundee. “Aberdeen is a massive club. The chance to work under the manager as well was always in my thinking. Hopefully he can get the best out of me,” said Stewart.

Blackburn Rovers, gearing up for League One, have signed highly-rated attacking midfielder Bradley Dack, 23, from Gillingham for £750,000 on a three-year contract.

He hit 38 goals in 185 games for the Gills.
