Williams masterful in Knack
The Knack Premier League saw some high-class action this week.
Sunderland’s number one player, Paul Williams, was sensational as he sent Kevin Guy packing 5-0.
Williams hit back-to-back 180s, setting up a nine-dart leg before wiring the seventh treble 20, finishing the leg in just 11 darts.
He then added 14, 15, 17 and 21-dart legs, giving him a match average of 32.11 per dart (96.33).
Williams then took Neil Rose’s 100% record away as he strolled to a 5-2 win including a 121 finish.
Rose had won his first game of the night 5-3 against Will Neave.
Dave Prins didn’t drop a single leg, destroying Arran Samuels with some brilliant darts which included a fantastic 167 finish in a 12-dart leg which was followed up by a 13-darter.
Prins then walloped Will Neave with a brace of 180s and yet another 12-dart leg.
Davey Thompson remains the only player in the league with a 100% win rate after only three weeks, beating both Chris Vaughan and Allen George 5-2.
Spiller Henderson picked up all six points, Allen George and Dougie Hall 5-3.
The first game saw Henderson finish off two 15-dart legs with finishes of 116 and 106.
Against Hall, Henderson threw his second 180 of the night.
Davy Richardson is starting to show some of the frightening scoring ability, dismantling Dougie Hall and the returning Paul McGowan both 5-1.
McGowan comfortably beat Barry Rutherford 5-1 in his earlier game.
Andrew Ambler picked up maximum points as he beat Dan Gillibrand 5-3 in a game that seemed to last longer than War and Peace, before easing past Barry Rutherford 5-0.
Darren Patton avoided a late scare from Alan Smith to win 5-3, hitting a 107 finish and having best legs of 17 and 19 darts. Patton also beat Dan Gillibrand 5-2.
Graeme Hills was a 5-1 winner over Rob McCluskey, who had started like a man possessed - starting the first leg with scores of 180, 100, 140 and then treble 19 only to have dou- ble trouble before winning it in 16 darts.
That set the tone with Hills taking full advantage of poor finishing to take the points.
Hills then won 5-2 against Anth Skelton, who had earlier rallied from 4-1 down to take a point from Matthew Hodgson.
Philly Dunn beat John Scullion 5-3 before throwing away a 4-1 lead over Chris Vaughan to draw 4-4.
Scullion managed to put his first point of the season on the board against Alan Smith in a 4-4 draw.
Ross Guy was on the receiving end of two 5-1 thumping against Ryan Joyce and then Arran Samuels.
Joyce responded by beating Matthew Hodgson 5-1 in his second game.
Finally, Eddie Ashman edged out Kevin Guy 5-3 and then drew with Rob McCluskey.
