Arthritis Care Sunderland branch will meet in The Education Centre, Sunderland Royal Hospital, on Wednesday September 7, from 6pm to 8pm. Kevin Devine, from The Carers’ Centre, will be the guest speaker.

Ewesley Road WI will meet in The Enid Dagg Room of the Church on Wednesday, September 7, at 2.15pm. Entertainm­ent will be by Marrianne Hume. The stall will be harvest and the competitio­n guesstimat­e. There will be tea hostesses.

The Salvation Army in Rutland Street, is holding a table-top sale on Saturday, September 17, from 10am to noon. Anyone interested in having a stall should contact 0191 5280558. Cost is £8 per table.

St Gabriel’s Church Coffee Morning takes place on Saturday, September 17, from 10.30am to noon and is in aid of Save The Children. Coffee and scone will cost £1. There will also be a cake stall and raffle.Goalongand­enjoythe fellowship. All are welcome. in some of its history.

St Nicholas Church in Hedworth, Boldon Colliery, will hold a Lesotho Fund raising event on Friday, September 30, at 7pm. The evening will have an Italian theme with food, music and a quiz. Tickets are priced at £5.

Local folk group Seganianm has just returned from playing at the Whitby Folk Festival. Members of the band will host the Folk Club at the Grey Horse in East Boldon from 7.30pm on Thursday and they will be at the cricket ground on Sunderland Road in East Boldon on Thursday, September 8. Every Sunday St Wilfred’s Church meets in Doxford Park Community Centre and everyone is welcome.

The community centre plays host to a number of activities through out the week including: A photograph­ic class, which meets on a Thursday from 1pm to 3pm. Weightwatc­hers classes are held every Friday from 9am-11.30am and Slimming World meets Mondays from 9am-11am and Tuesdays from 3.30pm-9pm. Line dancing is on every Wednesday from noon-1.30pm and sequence dancing on Wednesdays from 7.15pm -8 15pm. For more informatio­n on these and other activities, ring Val on 5979227.

Sacred Dragon Martial Arts Tae-Kwon-Do and kickboxing classes are held in Doxford Park Community Centre every Sunday from 4pm to 5.30pm for those aged five and over. There is also a class on Wednesdays for those aged 13 and over from 6pm and 7pm. For further details contact Gordon on 0782823066­9.
