A BLUNDERING thief left a trail of chocolate wrappers after raiding a shop – leading police straight to his home.

Sweet- toothed Charlie Moxon, 33, broke into a convenience store to grab cash and confectionary.

But hours later he was found unconscious on a filthy mattress surrounded by sweet wrappers – after officers followed the Hansel and Gretel- style trail.

A court heard that when interviewed by police the following day Moxon said he was drunk and unable to remember the night before.

Prosecutor Connor Evans said Moxon’s chocolate raid had “a massive financial impact” on the shop at Riverside Health centre in Newcastle Emlyn, West Wales.

Swansea Crown Court heard Moxon was on bail at the time for a knife- point burglary where he made off with £ 700 cash.

Father- of- three Moxon, of Cardigan, admitted unlawful wounding, theft, burglary, and shoplifting.

He was jailed for two years and nine months.

COUNTRY music legend Dolly Parton has turned down a proposal to erect a statue in her honour in country music capital Nashville, Tennessee – saying it wasn’t appropriate “given all that is going on in the world”.

The Jolene singer tweeted about the bill introduced last month by Tennessee legislators that would’ve constructed the statue in front of the Ryman Auditorium, where she’s performed before.

Dolly, 75 ( above), thanked officials, saying: “I am honoured and humbled by their intention but I have asked the leaders of the state legislature to remove the bill from any and all consideration.

“Given all that is going on in the world, I don’t think that putting me on a pedestal is appropriate at this time.”

However, she left the door open to the project being revisited in the future, adding: “I hope, though, that somewhere down the road several years from now, or perhaps after I’m gone, if you still feel I deserve it, then

I’m certain I will stand proud in our great State Capitol as a grateful Tennessean.”

AN ex- gynaecologist convicted of sexually assaulting patients has been arrested over allegations he exposed himself to women.

Evan Saunders, 56, was nicked after witnesses reported a flasher outside two restaurants.

Saunders drove off before police arrived, but witnesses provided a photo of the flasher and his car number plate.

Police detained him at his home and matched him to the photo.

Saunders said he was near the restaurants in Novato, California, but denied flashing his dick, police said.

He does, however, have previous, with another indecent exposure case pending involving an incident two years ago.

A jury convicted him in 2012 of sex assault against four patients at his surgery in Milwauklee, Wisconsin.

A judge sentenced him to a year in jail and placed him on probation for three years.

Saunders denied wrongdoing but gave up his medical licence.

His lawyer said of his latest legal woes: “My client lived for minges. When those minges were taken from him, his life then spiralled downwards.”
