It could be away the lad for Pat

-

SUNDERLAND are bracing themselves for a transfer request from Patrick van Aanholt after a stand-up row with teammate Adnan Januzaj against STOKE.

Two goals from Marko Arnautovic and a Peter Crouch header, gifted by keeper Vito Mannone, piled the pressure on Black Cats boss David Moyes, whose depleted side face an FA Cup replay at Burnley on Tuesday night.

And to add to Moyes’ misery, Van Aanholt was involved in a blazing row with Januzaj after the winger had lazily given away the ball in the dying minutes .

Last week Sunderland turned down a £10million bid for Van Aanholt from Crystal Palace managed by former Mackem Sam Allardyce.

But the Dutchman is one of a number clearly unhappy on Wearside.

Moyes is hoping to persuade absent owner Ellis Short to add to his squad this month after fans turned on the American billionaire during Stoke’s first win in 15 games at the Stadium of Light.

Moyes said: “We are looking for players. By looking, I don’t mean that we’re in there spending millions and millions.

“But are we looking at players and thinking about a few things? Yes we are, although, in our position, it’s not always that easy to attract players to the club.

“Today, I didn’t feel we had players on the bench who were any more capable than the players in the forward areas to make a difference. We have nothing to change it round.”

HULL’s new coach, Marco Silva, was delighted with the way his team fought back against BOURNEMOUTH.

Junior Stanislas fired the Cherries ahead from the penalty spot after only three minutes, but two goals from Abel Hernandez and an own goal from Tyrone Mings gave Silva a priceless win.

He said: “The team last in the table lose a penalty after three minutes and they showed fantastic spirit.

“I start to see progress. We have time next week to work more and the players now believe more in our ideas.

“I saw my players smile in the dressing room and that’s important for me.”

On the form of Hernandez, Silva said: “He’s an important player for us. We’ve played two games at home and he’s scored three goals. That’s important to us and to him.”
