LIVE Jeff and I will march on to fight cancer

- Running with terminal cancer By Kevin Webber justgiving.com/fundraising/kevin-webber8

Since I have been ill, more than ever, I love being outdoors. I love fundraising for Prostate Cancer UK and I love encouraging others to have a sense of purpose and worth in life.

I’ve been fortunate to be involved in hundreds of events in the last six years which go some way towards achieving this. By far, my favourite thing was joining the legendary Jeff Stelling of Sky Sports on his March For Men raising funds and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK. I have also been privileged to walk 17 marathons with him, other sports personalities, pro state cancer sufferers and hundreds of others who, like me, want to make a difference.

So, you can imagine how ecstatic I was this week to see that Jeff is off again for four more marathons at the end of August and start of September around Newcastle, Leeds, Liverpool and London – and I hope to be there for all four. The memories from previous walks frequently come into my mind and friendships made go further than just the day itself.

Make no mistake, these are full 26.2-mile marathons, but they are so well supported by the charity with regular food and drink points and a warm welcome from many football clubs that the miles just fly by.

Being a football fan I have met so many of my heroes doing these marathons including Matt Le Tissier,

Dennis Wise, Charlie

Nicholas and the late Gordon Banks and Ray Clemence, to name but a few, and I am looking forward to more selfie opportunities this year too.

The great news is that you too can join Jeff and I by signing up for your preferred march at prostatecanceruk.org/jeffsmarch, and I believe this will not only give you something to look forward to but also give you all the positive emotions I have experienced while fundraising. It’s all for an important cause and, of course, helps with your own physical and mental wellbeing.

If the locations, distance or dates don’t work for you then you can always sort your own march for this amazing charity. What’s stopping you, eh? Until next week
