Liz bowled me over
Shane ‘happiest in life’ with his ex
SHANE Warne has admitted his years with Elizabeth Hurley were the happiest of his life and he still misses the love they shared. The ex-cricketer and notorious womaniser said the pressures of her filming for The Royals strained the relationship – and that he felt threatened by her friendship with her ex Hugh Grant. And he insisted that despite his bad-boy reputation, he wanted to be a better man for Liz. The 49-yearold said: “I was more in love with Elizabeth than I’d realised I could be.
“I miss the love we had. My years with Elizabeth were the happiest of my life. I wanted to be better with her.”
Bowler Shane also told of his regret PHILLIP Schofield channels daredevil Evel Knievel as he saddles up for an ad shoot.
The This Morning host, 56, was snapped wearing a star-spangled jumpsuit and helmet similar to the legendary US stuntman’s at a motorbike racetrack in the village of Jordans, Bucks.
He looked an easy rider in the promo for website webuyanycar.com until the time came to give the bike some real throttle – and he let a pro in matching kit jump to it.
Death-defying Evel’s most famous stunt was a record-breaking leap over 14 Greyhound buses at Ohio’s Kings Island amusement park in October 1975.
The icon – who died in 2007, aged 69 – attempted more than 75 ramp-to-ramp motorbike jumps his career. But in 1974, he failed in a bid to jump Snake River Canyon in a steampowered rocket.
Let’s hope the website doesn’t get any crazy ideas for Phil’s next ad... at cheating on wife of 10 years Simone with Liz, 53, who he met in 2010.
And he said of his 2013 split with Liz: “The long periods apart were too difficult. The more you’re apart, the more you ask questions. I got jumpy about the time Elizabeth spent with Hugh Grant, for example.
“I still care for her. She showed me what a relationship should mean.”
