Happy two year

And a Happy New Year “two” you! Just to prove you can’t have enough of a good thing, how about celebrating the arrival of 2017 twice?

We’ve teamed up with the deal gurus at Travelzoo to find out where you could (in theory) ring in the new year at the double on the same night.

Of course, for some trips you might need a Lotto win or a Premier League star’s salary to make it happen... but we can all dream big. DOWN WONDER Head to New Zealand to welcome 2017 first, then it’s a four-hour flight across the international date line to the Cook Islands where you’ll have time for a nap before doing it all over again. LAPP IT UP Sweden and Finland are neighbours but an hour apart in time zones.

Start the party in Muonio in Finnish Lapland, then cross the river to Muodoslompolo in Swedish Lapland for another celebration. If you really want to impress your friends there’s an island in the river straddling the border. So at midnight Finnish time you could stand with one foot in each year! IBERIA WE GO Like the Scandinavians, Portugal and Spain are an hour apart in time. Travelzoo suggest kicking off the night at a rooftop bar in Badajoz, Spain, then taking a 20 minute cab ride to Elvas in Portugal to carry on. Buenos noches! Boa noite! STATES OF MIND The US has multiple time zones so you could boogie on the beach in Port St Joe in Eastern Standard Time before taking the free shuttle bus to Mexico Beach for more fun an hour later in Central Standard Time.

In a similar fashion, Mountain Standard Time meets Pacific Standard Time way out west.

Lake Havasu City in Arizona is your first introduction to 2017, then it’s down the road to Needles, California, for a second lot of fireworks.

Happy Happy New New Year Year to you all! More at travelzoo.com/uk/
