BoJo heave-ho ‘as May brings back Oz’

- EXCLUSIVE BY NIGEL NELSON

TORY MPs believe Theresa May is plotting to replace Boris Johnson with former Chancellor George Osborne.

They say the PM has launched “black ops” against her Foreign Secretary in the hope of ending any threat to her leadership.

MPs claim she only gave him the job in the hope he would mess it up. A senior Brexit MP said: “This is a determined effort to undermine Boris. He’s never been much of a diplomat so was never suited to the role.

“If Boris has to go she will use it as an excuse to bring back Osborne.”

An ally of Mrs May added: “He’s not committed a sacking offence yet. But she’s trying to neutralise him as a future threat by giving him enough rope to hang himself. Then again, he’s a self-igniting touch paper anyway which she doesn’t have to even light.”

An MP friend of BoJo said: “Whoever’s behind this clearly doesn’t like the fact that Boris is by far the most popular politician in Britain because he speaks his mind.”

Mr Johnson was slapped down by No10 after accusing Saudi Arabia of launching “proxy wars” in the Middle East. No10 said his views did not represent those of the Government.

Mr Johnson yesterday called for UN aid workers to be allowed into Aleppo. He said at a Paris summit: “The situation remains dire. Our first priority must be protection of civilians and ensuring access for humanitarian aid.”
