I know she wants him to be part of it and I have to respect that. She’s my daughter and I want her to be happy. She makes my heart beat each day, as do my two grandchild­ren.

“Keeley often tells me that I am the best mother anyone could ever have and she tells me every day how much she loves me. That is enough for me and all I really need to know.”

It is easy to see why the prospect of being in the same room as Ken is causing Sherrie sleepless nights.

“We don’t live in the same country so we’ve never bumped into each other,” she says.

“Fourteen years is a long time not to see someone, which makes the thought of seeing each other again on such an important day so strange. If my mother Joy was still alive she’d have done anything to stop him coming. But it’s about Keeley and what she wants.

“She’s the most important person in my life and I’ll do anything to make her happy.”

Finding true love is something that still escapes Sherrie, though.

“I’ve come to the point in my life when I’ve thought, there’s no point,” says the actress.

“Because I don’t have the trust and I don’t have the inclinatio­n especially now I’m so busy.

“I also don’t have two bathrooms in my house. I couldn’t do with that, a man in my toilet!”
