Cormack in blast at Leitch

-

“care” about the SPFL and will allow fans back “as soon as it is safe to do so”.

But Cormack remains unconvinced and told the BBC: “It’s important we have a democracy here where we are entitled to ask questions of our elected officials. Debate is healthy.

“I listened to Jason Leitch today and it was good to hear him agree that stadia, like the plans we have just now, are more palatable than bingo halls, etc.

“He then completely deflected the conversation to scaremongering. I think you guys need to get him on here and grill him.”

He went on: “We are perplexed as to why we can’t have conversations with the Sports Minister or the First Minister.

“Why on earth won’t they meet with us? This alarmist approach from Jason of ‘we have chosen universities and schools ahead of football’ – it’s rubbish. We are comparing tier- two bingo halls as

being more favourable by the Scottish government than being in the open air with a five per cent capacity crowd.”

Cormack says the Dons have the support in the city to open up to more fans.

He added: “We are making public a 66-page operational plan for our next three home games.

“People need to review these plans and ask why cinemas, bingos and shopping malls are safer than our highly-regulated outdoor plans.

“We are asking to start one- off tests for five per cent capacity then move to 10 if it’s successful.

“We have the full support of Aberdeen City Council who put us through a rigorous process to get approval.

“Our plans are endorsed by an eminent clinical epidemiologist, Professor Gary MacFarlane.

“The fans are critical to our game and we ignore them at our peril. Let’s not insult their intelligence.”
