FARMHOUSE HAS LINKS TO FOUR CRIMINALS Country pile once housed drug smugglers, a former security boss and ‘Specky’ Boyd

- Craig McDonald

A luxury country farmhouse has links to four separate gangland figures, we can reveal.

Waterhead Farm nea r Stewarton, Ayrshire, sits in three acres and has a sauna and indoor swimming pool.

It changed hands last year but it has a history that estate agents aren’t likely to include in the schedule.

Despite the sale, it was last week given as the address of former resident David Gordon as he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for drug smuggling.

Another crook, Rober t Bonnar, locked up in 2011 for laundering nearly £1million of drug money, also previously stayed at the farm.

The lavish five-bedroom pile was once owned by security boss Paul Johnston and drugs baron Stewart “Specky” Boyd.

A source said: “With the pool, it does look the part but its history is quite extraordinary.”

The sales blurb for Waterhead stated: “It will undoubtedly appeal to those seeking privacy, charm and equestrian pursuits.”

It was sold to businessman Marcus Faulkner in October for £595,000.

There is no suggestion that he has any connection to the previous ownersners or occupants. He could not be contacted for comment last week.

Gordon, 34, was jai led at Liverpool Crown Court last week for conspiring to supply two kilos of cocaine worth £ 312,000 and laundering £100,000.

His partner, Nicola Kerrigan, 35, of Barrhead, Renfrewshire, was cleared of money laundering but was in court to see Gordon jailed.

Disgraced former pol ice of f icer Johnston bought Waterhead for £160,000 in 1997 and placed it on the market for offers over £745,000 in 2009.

Johnston, 58, once jailed for insurance fraud, and wife Marie made a fortune from security rackets using intimidation.

Bonnar, 44, was jailed for three years in 2011 for laundering almost £ 1million of drugs money at a travel agent.

Waterhead was also a home of drug dealer Boyd’s before his death in 2003, aged 40, in a fireball road crash in Spain.
