Chaos as Trump fails to keep Wolff from the door

-

“An idiot.” “A moron.” “A fool.” Good Lord. Who’s been saying these terrible things about Donald Trump? CNN? Hillary Clinton? Me?

No – it’s his closest allies, everyone ranging from Rupert Murdoch to Steve Bannon. They’re all quoted at length in journalist Michael Wolff’s new book, Fire And Fury: Inside The Trump White House.

The book chronicles his administration from election day to October 2017. Wolff conducted interviews with the president and most members of his senior staff.

How did he get this incredible access, you ask? Well, shortly after Trump’s inauguration, Wolff says he took up “something like a semi-permanent seat on a couch in the West Wing”, an idea encouraged by Trump, whose ego is so large he could see no downside.

Because Trump initially sanctioned his presence, no one was in a position to approve or deny access and Wolff became “more a constant interloper than an invited guest”. There were no ground rules placed on his access and he was required to make no promises about how he’d report what he witnessed.

With the result you’d expect: A portrait of utter lunacy and chaos that would be funny if it wasn’t so terrifying. Naturally, Trump has filed a lawsuit to try to stop publication.

I really hope he keeps it up because it would mean Trump having to testify in court under oath. Which means the current world record holder for perjury would have to watch out…
