Federer sets the tone for his foes

- Round-up

Roger Federer cruised into the last 16 as the seventimes Wimbledon champ made it through the first week without losing a set.

German Mischa Zverev took the third seed to a tiebreak in the first set only for Federer to ease home 7- 6 (7-3) 6-4 6-4 on Centre Court.

The 18-times Grand Slam winner produced 61 winners and only seven unforced errors as he set up a clash with Grigor Dimitrov.

Federer is among three of the big four – Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic the other two – who have yet to drop a set at SW19.

Dimitrov will meet him in the last 16 after his opponent Dudi Sela – who took a medical timeout at the end of the first set due to a thigh strain – retired while trailing 6-1 6-1.

Sixth seed Milos Raonic racked up 55 winners on his way to a 7- 6 (7-3) 6- 4 7-5 victory over Albert RamosVinolas but fans’ favourite Jo-Wilfried Tsonga failed to join him in going through.

American Sam Querrey broke the 12th seed’s serve in the f irst game of the day’s play to seal a 6-2 3- 6 7- 6 (7-5) 1- 6 7-5 victory.

And Marcus Willis caused another Wimbers upset as he and Jay Clarke knocked out the defending champs in round two of the doubles.

Last year’s SW19 cult hero paired up with Clarke as a wildcard team to send the French pair of Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert crashing out.

Brits Willis and Clarke won 3- 6 6-1 7- 6 (7-3) 5-7 6-3 against the second seeds to reach the last 16.
