Take bins out voluntarily...and you won’t get dumped

-

YOU might as well throw flowers and chocolates on the skip – because putting the bins out is far more of a romantic gesture, a poll suggests.

Out of several “everyday tasks”, dealing with household waste makes the most other halves swoon when it is done without them having to ask.

Both men and women reported the move was the best aphrodisiac – making them fall “a little bit more in love” with their partner.

But with other chores, such as mowing the lawn, doing laundry and cooking, the genders were split – with men and women valuing them all as of different importance.

Men said making the bed was the second best surprise chore after taking the bins out, while for women it was dealing with the washing up in the sink.

When she was Prime Minister, Theresa May’s husband Philip told how the bins were his domain. The financial executive revealed to the BBC in 2017: “There’s give and take in every marriage. I get to decide when to take the bins out, not if I take the bins out.

“I definitely do the taking the bins out, I do the traditional boy jobs, by and large.”

Sylvia Linzalone, of new dating site Finding The One, which carried out the research, said: “Nothing’s sexier than a partner showing you that they’re willing to roll up their sleeves and take care of the dirty work… literally!

“It seems the key to igniting sparks in a relationship lies in the mundane, proving that romance isn’t all grand gestures – it’s also the little acts of thoughtfulness.

“So, if you want to turn up the heat, forget the old clichés… just grab the bin bags and watch the magic unfold.”
