A penalty for Crieff on the 10-metre line saw young Tanish slip on his kicking boots and slot the kick, bringing the score to 1512 with just five minutes to go.

Quick to respond, the everslick Hillfoots hit back with a lovely winger’s try 19 metres in from touch. To add the pressure, the number 10 slotted the kick.

A moment of madness saw a Hillfoots player sent off and Gavin Tainsh slotted the kick to bring Crieff back to 18-19.

Hillfoots continued to apply sustained pressure and scored another try, bringing the score to 18-24.

Another offside by Hillfoots put Crieff in with a penalty, which was converted, and with only minutes to go Crieff played through 15 phases with some wonderful interplay to allow their full back through for a great team effort try, taking the lead at 26-24.

Hillfoots had yet another penalty but the pressure was too much and the shaking 10 missed the golden opportunit­y.

With one minute left the story of the game told and indiscipli­ne conceded a penalty.

This time Hillfoots did not miss and stole the match 26-27.

Next for Crieff is a trip to sixthplace­d Arbroath on Saturday. Kick-off is at 3pm.
