Ploughing match is a big success
Organisers of the 2017 Strathearn Vintage Ploughing Association annual ploughing match have thanked everyone involved for making the event such a success.
SVPA chairman Owen Sweeney said: “May I take this opportunity to thank some people who made the latest Strathearn Vintage Ploughing Association match such a huge success.
“The Stewart Family and Mathew Mauchline of East Crieffvechter Farm for the venue; Perth and Kinross Council and Scotloo; Tam Mills and Tullibardine Smiddy; Taylor Construction; MAM Contracting and all the other companies who made donations and sponsorship of trophies.
“We’d also like to thank Alistair and Morven Gourlay for the catering; all the people and companies who gave so generously by means of donations and raffle prizes; Frances Sweeney and Sandra McGuire for the tablet – and the emergency raffle tickets!
“Ian Renwick, of Famous Grouse at Glenturret Distillery deserves a mention, as do Neil and Sophie Campbell.
“Thank you also to the committee – Jayne Sweeney, Stuart Robertson, Alistair Lowe, Gordon Angela and Ewan Mitchell, Jim Nairn, David Taylor and Glenn Thomson — and all the members of the public, young and old, who came along and commented on what was such a fantastic, sociable and a relaxed environment.
“And last but by no means least thank you to the competitors – 60 in total, which covered all aspects of agricultural ploughing from horse to modern day.
“All I can say is a huge heartfelt thank you and if I have missed anyone out, I sincerely apologise. As you can imagine it is a huge event that we have to pull together. If I have taken up too much space, well it has been worth it!”
