Several plastic participants then took to the River Earn for the annual duck race, which this year was won by Louise Barker and Myra Robertson with an entry called Nae Breeks’.
After another performance as busy pipe band members played as they marched up Drummond Street, music rounded off the day as The Red Stripe Band performed an enjoyable set in the White Church.
Sunday’s highlights included fun with waterborne inflatables on Loch Earn and a teatime service held at Tullichettle.
Worshippers were ferried to the ancient churchyard in the much-loved CoCo Bus for a service which has taken place during the Comrie Fortnight since 1971.
CFA treasurer Diane Hunter described the weekend as great fun and said the turnout for the majority of events had been good – particularly the street market, quiz night and Red Stripe Band gig.
Thursday this week will see stand-up comedians Ray Bradshaw, Jim Smith, Chris Forbes and Christopher MacArthurBoyd perform an over-18s gig in the White Church. Entry is £8 per person. There is a licensed bar.
Saturday, meanwhile, sees the familyfriendly beer festival take place at the Boulevard from 3.30-9pm. Music will be provided by the Casuals.
‘Can’t Stop The Funk’ – one of several new events included in the Fortnight programme for this year – takes place shortly afterwards, from 9.30pm in Laggan Park. Tickets for the night featuring local DJs are £8 each.
Laggan Park will also help bring the community showcase’s first week to a close with the annual Fun Afternoon – featuring a children’s bike parade, pet show, an inflatable soft play area and the alwayspopular water slides.
Programmes are available at a variety of local outlets and more information is available from the White Church booking office and the Comrie Fortnight Association Facebook page.
