Makeover team help out at Trust
THE Rotary Club of Stockport Lamplighter unleashed their DIY skills to decorate rooms at a care home for adults with learning disabilities.
Members of the Heaton Moor-based club visited the Norwood Trust in Marple to help give the rooms a makeover.
Lamplighter Gordon Bennett is a professional decorator and he managed to get the colour designers from Johnstone’s paints on board.
They visited the home and created colour schemes for all the main rooms which would help create a warm, inviting atmosphere for the residents.
Johnstone’s also gave the Lamplighters a good discount on the paint needed, in readiness for Gordon and his team to start work.
The feature wall in the dining room, originally a vivid orange, was painted a relaxing teal with the other walls becoming light mushroom, giving the room a more modern, much cleaner appearance.
Gordon and his team completed all the work in a week, from prepping, painting and doing minor repairs.
Later in the year they are hoping to give the resident’s lounge a new look with colours suggested by the same colour team at Johnstone’s.
Lamplighter Carol Cross said: “This shows how the money donated to lamplighters is used wisely and helps the local community and organisations come together to help those less fortunate than themselves.”
