STOCKPORT residents are being asked to have their say on the proposals of the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework (GMSF).

The consultation started on Monday, October 31 and will run up to Friday, December 23.

The GMSF aims to establish homes, jobs and green space across Greater Manchester over the next 20 years, alongside identifying the new infrastructure, such as transport links and utility networks, required to achieve this.

Drop-in sessions giving residents the opportunity to engage with council staff and learn more about the proposals have been taking place this week; the remaining sessions will take place today (Wednesday) at 5pm at Marple Senior Citizen’s Hall, and tomorrow (Thursday) at 5pm in Committee Room 2 at the town hall and at 5.30pm at Bramhall Village Club on Melbourne Road.

Councillor Alex Ganotis, leader of Stockport Council, said: “Our priority is to meet housing and employment need by maximising the use of brownfield sites, minimising the impact on the Green Belt and continuing to protect our green spaces within the urban area.

“The consultation is an opportunity for people to comment, particularly if they don’t agree with the plans.”

Residents can take part in the consultation by visiting www. greatermanchester-ca.gov. uk/gmsf.
