Parents warned after flasher strikes

-

SCHOOLS in south Manchester and Stockport have sent out alerts to parents after one student was flashed by a man and one approached by a stranger in a car.

Both incidents were alleged to have happened on Tuesday evening (May 24) as the pupils made their way home from their different schools – one from the Grange School in Levenshulme, and the other St Anne’s RC High School in Reddish.

Warning messages were sent to parents at both schools on Wednesday morning alerting them to what had happened and asking them and children to be vigilant.

The first incident was about a mile away from St Anne’s, on Broadstone Road, where a pupil was approached by a man who exposed himself.

The school’s message to parents said: “Please be aware that a St Anne’s student was approached by a man on Broadstone Road near to Broadstone Mill yesterday evening.

“The man exposed himself to the student causing great distress.

“The police have been informed and we will be talking with all our students today. Please tell your children to be watchful and report any concerns they may have.”

At around the same time, another pupil from the Grange School – which is a school for children with communication problems, including autism – on Matthews Lane was also reportedly approached by a driver in a red car, described as an Asian man in his twenties.

A text to parents read: “Please be extra vigilant particularly if you live in the area.

“The police have been informed.”

Several nearby schools including Cedar Mount Academy also sent a warning message home to parents about the incident.
