Therapy and counselling service now offers training for others
Providing therapy and counselling for all ages - and also training others - is the focus of Therapy Train Stirling.
This new Community Interest Company based in the heart of Stirling was set up in August this year.
The company was awarded organisational membership of COSCA (Counselling & Psychotherapy in Scotland) and can now accept applications from adults aiming to achieve the COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills.
Applicants will be guided by course leader Rebecca Black, an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), who is also registered with the British Association of Play Therapists
(BAPT).
Rebecca offers over 12 years of experience as a counsellor of adults, also gaining an MSc in Counselling from Strathclyde University in 2010, and attained a Certificate in Person-centred Supervision that same year.
Experience in private practice working with a wide age range of clients from various social backgrounds, motivated Rebecca to also train as a Play Therapist from 2015-2017. She now works with both adult and child clients - with the “Inner Child”a recurring theme in a lot of her work with adults.
She manages her private practice over Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays from Stirling Business Centre, near Wellgreen Roundabout.
As well as being a therapist herself, she is looking forward to training others, whether they be parents or professionals, in counselling skills.
Rebecca said:“The new COSCA training course is ready to begin in November and is suited to any adult willing to further develop focused communication skills. Teachers, or those in health care or social care roles may find it particularly beneficial. There are four modules in total and each separate module involves 30 hours of training.”
If the course is over-subscribed Rebecca will also consider offering a Monday evening training group.
Therapy Train Stirling also offers play therapy for children aged 3-15, with a dedicated Play Therapist helping the child to show their feelings through symbolic play with a range of toys, books or sensory art materials, when words are sometimes difficult. The service could support any child who may have had difficult experiences due to complex social issues, parental separation or a bereavement.
Rebecca said:“Whether you are interested in COSCA Certificate Training or would like to discuss our other therapeutic services please get in touch.”
