Thursday, July 26 Caley Marts sold 158 cattle comprising 95 prime cattle and 63 OTM cattle. An excellent show of cattle for quality would meet a similar trade. Heifers sold to 248p per kg for a Limousin from JH and NT Turnbull, Meadowend, Clackmanna­n purchased by D Campbell and Son, Butchers, Callander and to £1614 for a Limousin from Brockwoodl­ees. Bullocks sold to 235p on three occasions for Limousins from J and N Kerr, Bankhead, Aberdour; J Caldwell and Son, Moorfield, Kilmarnock and J and J Wylie, Knockhouse, Dunfermlin­e, purchased by T Johnston, Butchers, Falkirk and to £1626 from South Flanders. All classes of lambs followed the national average being easier on the week with 883 lambs averaging 176.7p (-6.3p on the week). Top price of the day went to J and D McNicol, Whitecross, Dunblane for a 49kg Texel at £98. Top price per kg went to RA Campbell and Son, Meikle Seggie, Milnathort for a pair of 39.5kg Beltex X Lambs at 210p pkg.
