Community council There are currently three vacancies on the community council and applicatio­ns are invited from Alva residents. The community council meets on the second Monday of each month at 7.30pm. Applicatio­n forms and guidance notes are available from: Alva Community Access Point (CAP) and Higglety Pigglety shop in Alva or email: info@alvacommun­itycouncil. org.uk. Completed applicatio­ns, addressed to the Secretary of Alva Community Council by Monday, August 27 to any of the above or the postal address on the guidance notes. The decision on filling these vacancies will be made at the community council meeting on Monday, September 10 which the public are welcome to attend. If the number of volunteer applicatio­ns does not exceed the three vacancies all will be co-opted on to the community council provided eligibilit­y criteria is met. In the event that there are more eligible applicatio­ns than vacancies an open vote will be taken by current elected community councillor­s.

Bruce Memorial Church All welcome to Sunday service at 11am led by minister Rev Graham Nash. The theme will be ‘I am your Lord and Teacher’ and the Bible reading will be from John 13. There will be a short, informal communion at the end of the service. Donations for Start-Up Stirling, ther local food bank, gratefully accepted. Elementary Food Hygiene courses will be delivered in St Columbia’s Church premises. The first full-day course (six hours plus a couple of short breaks) will be held on Tuesday, August 21 starting at 9am and finishing at 3.30pm.

Miners Welfare Social Club Bingo on Mondays and Wednesdays at 8pm. Community council Meets in Bannockbur­n Community Centre on the first Thursday of each month at 7pm. Dementia Friendly Wellbeing Café A meeting will be held in Allan Church Community Hall on Monday, August 6 at 2pm. \Bridge of Allan

Parish Church Sunday worship takes place at the usual time of 11am and will be conducted by Rev Dan Harper. The service will include the celebratio­n of the Sacrament of Baptism. There will be a creche and for those of primary school age there is Church in the Corner. Coffee fellowship takes place in the Chalmers Hall afterwards. Summer Sundays continue with a trip Bridge of Allan Games, walking to the Games Park after coffee fellowship. Admission is £9 for adults, £6 for children and £4 for senior citizens. Summer coffee mornings continue on Saturday from 10am-noon in the Chalmers Hall. Proceeds this year will be split between Maggie’s Centre and the MS Therapy Centre. To mark the 150th anniversar­y of the birth of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the church will be open to visitors from 10am-noon on Saturdays during July and August. Members and visitors may wish to view the Mackintosh furnishing­s and the Stephen Adams stained glass windows. St Saviour’s Episcopal Church 8am Eucharist, 10am sung Eucharist. Young Church and creche take place in the church hall then join the main service later. Coffee/tea are served in the church hall after the 10am service.
