Girl, 10, trampled and has panic attack in stampede

-

A 10–year old Bannockburn girl suffered a panic attack and was trampled as she attempted to leave a Little Mix concert attended by 15,000 fans.

Lucie France, who was with her mum Jennifer, was also kicked and pushed following the outdoor gig at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) on Saturday night.

Jennifer purchased tickets at £50 each as a Christmas present for the youngster.

But after enjoying the music the pair found themselves among crowds channelled towards an area of the venue with no exit, leading to fears of a crush.

Bosses at the venue have blamed a group who removed a section of the fencing for the distress caused and said the assault on the barriers was due to “impatience to escape the inclement weather”.

Jennifer said: “The panic started when people were trying to climb over the fences and also kicking them and lifting them to climb under. There was a set of stairs and people were climbing the stairs to get out.

“There were glass doors on the side which were being kicked, punched and booted in and people shouting and swearing, trying to break the glass.

“This all was going on for a good few minutes and I saw none of the staff doing anything to assist. A lot were looking on at the chaos through glass doors and doing nothing.

“In the end, staff did eventually come out and something was done and people were managing to get out.

“But this left Lucie sitting on the ground having a panic attack and in the process she was kicked, stood on and pushed by drunken adults who were panicking and trying to escape.

“This was the first time she had ever taken a panic attack, she was terrified.

“The staff who eventually came out at first completely ignored us but after I began to shout for assistance, we were taken to first aid. This should never have happened and the outcome could have been much worse.”

Upset Jennifer (36) also blasted the behaviour of those in attendance.

She added: “It wasn’t like how I thought a Little Mix concert would be. It was more like a mini T in the Park.

“There were drunken adults in charge of young kids and women doing the toilet in the middle of crowds. This should have been organised with health and safety in the forefront with all the kids there.”

On social media, dozens of Little Mix fans shared their experiences, posting accounts and photos of the incident.

A spokesperson for the AECC said: “As per the event plan, there were 172 security personnel on site. In addition, there were a number of paramedics, GPs, first aid staff and Police Scotland working at the event.

“There were no injuries and no calls for police or further interventions as
