Hospice cash in from Lynda

- Robert Fairnie

A generous Torbrex woman raised a four-figure sum for Strathcarron Hospice as she marked five decades of involvement with the Stirling Spiritualist Church.

Lynda Buchan donated £1005 to the good cause last week after gathering the cash at a special celebratory evening at the Golden Lion Hotel.

She was joined by more than 150 of her family and close friends who were keen to honour her 50 years of involvement with the church.

The 75-year-old spent around two decades, on and off, serving as president and as a medium still regularly takes services throughout the UK.

She has also become well-known for kindspirited nature – with her fundraising efforts and generosity shown to others something which was highlighted by fellow church goers.

Friend Isobel Petale said:“She was president for many years and she welcomed my friend and I to the church.

“She is always there to welcome people in, no matter who they are. She has helped so many people.”

Stirling Spiritualist Church, in King Street, is affiliated to the Spiritualists’National Union and they believe in the survival of the spirit beyond physical death.

They say that although the body dies the spirit lives on and continues to develop. Lynda told the Observer that week that she first became involved the church after attending with her mother and was“hooked” from there on.
