County’s Melrose trip
Stirling County will be up against guest sides from Romania, Poland and the USA when they take part in the famous Aberdeen Standard Investments Melrose Sevens on Saturday, April 14.
The annual tournament – now in its 128th year – has a special place in the hearts of rugby fans worldwide, and 12,000 spectators will travel to Melrose, the birthplace of rugby sevens, to see the world’s oldest tournament take place.
County will face tough opposition on the day from other Scottish and international teams all eager to lift the coveted Ladies Cup.
Title sponsor Aberdeen Standard Investments returns to support the historic rugby sevens tournament in 2018.
Martin Gilbert, joint chief executive of Aberdeen, says, “Nothing can diminish the atmosphere and drama of the Melrose Sevens and it is of little wonder that thousands of spectators from around the world make the annual journey to the home of rugby sevens.
“But it’s more than rugby – not only does the event attract high calibre players both local and international, but it is a day of fun and entertainment and the buzz at The Greenyards will be electric.”
Tickets for the event start from £10 for children, £15 for senior citizens and £20 for adults. Family tickets are also available for £50, admitting two adults and two children.

County will be making an early visit to The Greenyards when they travel to meet Melrose on Saturday in a re-arranged BT Premiership match.
Kick-off is 12.30pm to allow fans and players the chance to see the Ireland-Scotland Six Nations fixture.
Stirling 2nds are due at Melrose Storm in a BT National Reserve League Division 1 match while in BT West League 2, Strathendrick are at home to Waysiders/ Drumpellier.
All games were hit by the weather last weekend.
