New iPad the prize in power safety comp
A new power safety competition for primary schools in Stirling which gives pupils a chance of winning a brand new iPad for their class has been launched by energy firm SP Energy Networks.
Pupils are invited to take part in PowerWise Champions, an interactive lesson in the importance of staying safe around electricity, before completing a drawing challenge to win their school the exciting prize which also includes a power safety session from a SP Energy Networks engineer.
PowerWise Champions is a power safety initiative run by SP Energy Networks, the owner and maintainer of powerlines in Stirling. The initiative encourages pupils to learn about the importance of staying safe around electricity through a free online educational resource which is available to teachers, parents and kids.
Schools will also be given the opportunity to nominate their PowerWise Champion, a pupil who will be selected as their school’s power safety ambassador and be the individual that passes on their knowledge to their schoolmates and friends on how to behave in the event of a power cut.
Guy Jefferson, Director, SP Energy Networks, said: “We’re proud to be able to bring our vital safety messaging into schools, sharing the importance of being prepared for a power emergency. There’s loads of simple steps that we can bear in mind to make sure we keep safe in a power cut.”
PowerWise is a free teaching resource available to school teachers to help educate pupils on the importance of power safety. Teachers and parents can register to access the free resources at powerwise.org.uk.
The competition closes on January 31, 2018. For more information on PowerWise, visit powerwise.org.uk.
