Finlay leads the field in cross country race

The third race in Central AC’s 2016/17 Cross-Country Series saw 62 youngsters running in mild and dry conditions on a testing course in the Laighhills Park, Dunblane on Saturday.

Once again, it was under 13 runner Finlay Muir who led home the field to finish with an impressive 5mins 51secs run over the one-mile course, seven seconds ahead of Sandy Buchanan with Cameron Kerr continuing to show promise with his 6.04 run in third.

Euan Campbell proved to be the fastest of the remaining under 13 boys in 6.07, leading in Callum Scott (6.19), Euan Docherty (6.35), Angus Henderson (6.42), Toby Rooney (7.14), Scott Hopper (7.28), Ross Lawrie (7.36), Finlay Marchant (7.58) and Joe Phillips (8.50).

Thomas Woods (5.57) was top under 15 boy with Kyle Howie (6.03) also impressing to finish second in this age group while Daniel Bruce came through in 6.38 ahead of Cameron Fraser (6.41) and Ben Hughes (6.52).

Joshua Kennedy (6.08) proved to be the best of the under 11 boys finishing just a step or two ahead of Connor Bell (6.09) with Oliver Richardson (6.27) also showing good form ahead of Cameron Darnbrough (6.53).

Another big turnout in this age group also saw Oliver Ditchfield (7.15) running well just ahead of Ross McGann (7.16), Owen Eckersley (7.17), Alex Dunlop (7.21) and Benjamin Harley (7.23). This competitiv­e age group also saw true spirit from Kieran Rooney (8.08), Kyle Saunders (8.10), Elliot Chohan (8.21), Dylan McCulloch (8.24), Douglas Hesketh (8.33), Benjamin Kennedy (8.38), Kyle Thomson (8.40) and Arthur Jacques (8.41).

Fergus Young (7.31) proved to be the strongest under nine boy on the day, finishing ahead of Logan Bell (8.13) and
