Fab backing for our festive appeal
Pressies are so important to local charities
Kind hearted readers from across the area are continuing to back the annual Stirling Observer Give A Gift Appeal.
Gifts have been pouring in to our drop off points, including to the Observer office in Upper Craigs, along with news of collections which are being arranged right across our circulation area.
Charities have been leaving us in no doubt just how important gifts donated through the Stirling Observer Give A Gift Appeal are to the young people they support.
Among them are Stirling and District Women’s Aid.
Manager Jessica Lindhof said: “Christmas is a very difficult time of year for many of the women and children we work with and support both in our refuge and through outreach services.
“To enable us to provide Santa sacks and hampers for the families and have a Christmas Party for those in refuge we rely on support from individuals and organisations through donations and gifts.”
The Give A Gift Appeal aims to donate new toys and gifts to sick, needy and vulnerable children at Christmas with the help of a number of local charities and good causes.”
Observer reporter Kaiya Marjoribanks said: “Over the years people have been incredibly generous and this year appears to be no exception. While it is a massive undertaking we are only too pleased to be able to play our part, particularly when we receive feedback from the charities and hear just how this helps them to give the children they support a much better Christmas than they may otherwise have had.”
As well as Stirling Women’s Aid, others involved include: Stirling Council Social Services; Cultenhove Opportunities; Stirling Young Carers; Aberlour; HomeStart Stirling; PLUS; Cornton Vale Family Centre and Help Hub; and foodbank charity Start-Up Stirling. We are also happy to hear from other charities and causes who may not have been involved so far or consider one off requests.
