Stableford competitor­s brave the elements

Dunblane New The additional Stableford arranged for last Saturday was affected by another wet and miserable day. However, a number faced the elements which were not as bad as forecast but resulted in a “reduction only” CSS following an increase to 72 on Friday.

First Class was won by Ken Wilkie (4) on 34 points with net birdies at 1, 13 and 18. Runner up was Allan Cowie (4) on 33 points with net birdies at 2, 13 and 15 and better inward half (bih) than Mark Cassie (6) who had net eagle at 9. Playing on Friday Tommy Green (5) was fourth on 32 and a better last six (bl6) thanks to a gross eagle at 17 than four other players.

First out at 7.30am, Joe Malley (12) won the Second Class with the best round of the weekend - 36 points - with a net eagle at 11 and net birdies at 8, 10 and 17. Runner up was vice captain Ian Kenny (14) who returned 33 points on Friday with net eagle at 14 and net birdies at 6, 11 and 13. Again playing on Friday Christophe­r MacDonald (15) was third on 31 points and bih than two other players.

In a small Third Class field Drummond Gardner (20) won on 33 points helped by a net birdie at 18. Runner up was Jim Forbes (22) on 32 points highlighte­d by a net eagle at 4.

There will be another Stableford today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday) with the Winter Ringer commencing on Saturday, October 29.
