Local enjoy sales success
Local exhibitors enjoyed success at the sales.
On Sunday’s show of Aberdeen-Angus R&C Retties of Alloa secured the title of female champion with their heifer Retties Diana, who went on to sell to 7500gns at Monday’s sale.
She was bought by Andrew and James Adam, Newhouse of Glamis, sons of the Charolais judge, who are establishing their own herd.
Monday’s pre-sale show of Limousins was a double whammy for Blair Drummond-based J Burnett & Sons. Their bull Spittalton Ludo placed reserve senior champion while their heifer Spittalton Lilac won overall female champion.
In the afternoon sale they also achieved second and third-best price for their Limousin bulls. Spittalton Lewis sold for 8200gn to JA Lambie and Son of Loanhead of Duchally, Auchterarder. Spittalton Liam fetched 7200gn by MJ Agnew, Little Airies, Kirkcolm.
Another from the stable, Spittalton Loader, sold for 6500gn to M&A Lennie, Seaview, Sanday, Orkney. The female draft peaked at 3000gn for Spittalton Lena. Bridge of Allan Limousin exhibitor R&J Graham of Airthrey Kerse Diary sold to a top of 6000gn for Grahams Leopard, bought by Peter Alexander of Mains of Mause, Blairgowrie.
And in the show ring Dunblane exhibitor DM Lyle of Mid Cambushinnie Farm placed first with his Charolais bull Loganbar Ludavic.
A charity auction for Doreen Cormack’s Stem Cell Fund, raised a massive £77,000, smashing the £50,000 target.
Mohsin Altajir of Dunblane-based Highland Wagyu bid a winning £10,000 for the choice of an in-calf heifer from the Wedderlie herd.
