Care home unveils

-

ASSISTANCE for residents to use iPads, Skype, Facebook and Facetime is being encouraged and facilitated by caring care workers who work for the provider Barchester Healthcare as a way to reach out to families, friends and loved ones during these isolating times.

Activities co-ordinator, Rob Fortune has designed a banner which residents helped to create and then wrote their messages on to for friends and family to read online.

The photos were posted showing residents’ messages on their very own Facebook page, Barchester – Sutton Grange.

Rob said: “Please view us online, we hope you ‘Like’ the photos on our Facebook page!”

Barchester Healthcare is also behind Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, which is a registered charity that gives grants to older people and other adults with a disability to help combat loneliness and enable people to be active and engaged in the communities where the Barchester care homes operate.

General Manager, Benn Mott, at Sutton Grange, said: “Loneliness can be a big problem for elderly people and communicating with others is key to maintaining happy residents in a happy home.

“Our doors are usually always open to visitors but at this time we are in lockdown like everyone else and so communication and keeping in touch via social media is paramount.”

Sutton Grange care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering high-quality care across its care homes and hospitals.

Sutton Grange provides residential care, nursing care and dementia care for 70 residents from respite care to long term stays.
