Own family history?
Find the title deeds to your house and home, if you possess them – if not contact your mortgage adviser and ask them for a copy – these would be very useful, especially if you want us to help you.
Ask your family – from grandparents to grandchildren – to jot down some details about their lives, with photos.
Start with the older members of your family – a good reason to ring them and talk because you can’t be with them, or contact them online, and talk to them that way.
We, of course, won’t be able to do it all for you, but we will start you off and offer advice and guidance all along the way – but we will be here if you would prefer us to research your project for you, if it becomes complicated or to continue it for you if you hit that proverbial brick wall (all genealogists get that from time to time) for a ridiculously low fee, of course, under the circumstances, as this is all for fun.
So, what are you waiting for – get cracking, go check those cupboards and drawers!
Take your mind
off these difficult times and embrace your past – give us a shout if you need any help.
Later, you could step it up and take a DNA test to get a much deeper insight to find out where you come from and, for example, discover similarities, resemblances, shared personalities, occupations and inherited physical traits, with your ancestors
You will find relatives and ancestors in a wide variety of places and unusual circumstances, above; you may be lucky enough to find some good old deeds, family photographs, or maps, in your search for ancestors, below left and right born centuries ago.
Again, we can offer to help you decipher the data.
As we look back on our ancestors and loved ones, their stories are remembered and shared; it’s important to record these family tales and carry them with us so we can keep their memory alive for future generations.
To help you with your new house or family project we will be putting together some ideas and guidelines on our new page – Southport’s History
