A SKY HIGH SHOW Scandanavian stars join the line-up for spectacular
VISITORS to the Southport Air Show will be treated to new aircraft courtesy of a Scandavaian invasion.
The full line up for this year’s show has been announced, which Sefton Council tourism chiefs says “is the best for a number of years”.
Much excitement has been generated by the first-time inclusion of both the Viggen and the Tunnan from the Swedish Air Force Historic Flight.
Also making a debut at the show is the T-33 ‘Shooting Star’ from the Norwegian Air Force Historical Squadron, while there is a return for the Thunderbolt P-47 and Aerosuperbatics Wingwalkers.
Crowd favourites The Blades aerobatic team are in the line-up again, as is the Battle Of Britain Memorial flight.
The thunderous Typhoon will roar through the skies on each of the three days.
The Royal Navy Black Cat solo display will also be at Southport, one of only six shows in the UK to have that display this year.
The event takes place from Friday, September 6 until Sunday, September 8.
Once again, there will be a host of on the ground activities, including flight simulators, static aircraft, wallclimbing, assault courses and a diving tank.
The weekend starts with a night flying event on the Friday night, with displays to music with pyros and LED lights.
Visitors can finish the evening with a firework finale, sponsored by Davanti Tyres, designed and fired by British Musical Fireworks Championship ‘Champions of Champions’, Sirotechnics.
There will then be two days featuring a variety of aircraft on the Saturday and Sunday.
Mark Catherall, Sefton’s Tourism Manager, said: “To get two real jets from the Swedish Air Force is a real coup for us.
“We’ve got a real mix of fast jets, historic planes, helicopters, static displays.
“It’s going be noisy, it’s going to be loud!”
