Sandpipers celebrate support of superstore
LOCAL charity Revitalise Sandpipers has been chosen by Sainsbury’s in Lord Street as its Charity of Year – which was supported by a public vote both in store and online.
Sainsbury’s Nicky Plaistow confirmed the Southport store was looking forward to an exciting and productive year ahead.
She said: “We are delighted to be working with Sandpipers, noting the work they do both locally and further afield which is widely recognised, and this coming year they will have our support promoting and fundraising on their behalf.”
Revitalise Sandpipers provides respite holidays for those with disabilities and their carers, and is one of three centres in the country. It is ideally situated on Fairway overlooking the Marine Lake.
Centre manager Katrine Schofield explained how appreciative they are to have been chosen.
“This is great news and we thank both Sainsbury’s and those who voted for us. Holidays are an asset to our health and wellbeing and none are more appreciative than our guests who, at Sandpipers, are assured of an excellent break they will not forget, and as ever they are our top priority.”
Also present at the meeting were operations director Darren Holloran who, while overseeing the three centres, is a local resident ; and Friends Group chairman Brenda Porter who has been a supporter of Sandpipers over many years. Both joined Katrine in expressing their delight that Sandpipers had been successful and been awarded Charity of Year for Sainsbury’s Southport.
Revitalise Sandpipers – in addition to providing that much-needed break – also provide 24-hour oncall nursing care for guests.
Sainsburys officially launched Revitalise Sandpipers at the weekend, with literature being made available.
