Picture perfect
THESE are the stunning photos that have topped the winners table in Southport Photographic Society’s latest competition.
Judged on February 2 the open competition had more than 100 entries and was split into two categories.
The winners for the print division were En Pointe by Chris Wood in first place, Osprey with fish by Kit Robinson in second place and in third place The Boxer by Les Auld.
Topping the digital image category in first place was Female orange tip butterfly by Trevor Davenport, second place went to Alex Anderson with Spork, and third place to Sheila Davies with Amazonian milk frogs.
With more than 100 members and set to celebrate its 125th anniversary this year, president elect of Southport Photographic Society, Michele Martin, said they are the second oldest club in the country.
She told the Visiter: “Many of the entries were people from Southport, but because the club has a good reputation, we came eighth out of 96 clubs at a recent competition, some have entered from all over.
“Of the winning entries, I personally quite like The Boxer, I thought the lighting was amazing on it.”
Southport Photographic society meets every Monday at Emmanuel Church Hall at 7.30pm September to April, and Michele said all visitors are welcome – especially those who want to try the club before joining, adding: “Come along see what you think and be inspired.” For more information visit www.southport-ps. co.uk.
