Carers hit the Halloween jackpot with club’s invite

-

A BINGO club is saluting the efforts of local carers with a special party night.

Mecca Bingo Swansea is to reward the work of local carers with a free Halloween party, complete with food, drink and bingo, on Saturday, October 27, from 6.30pm.

The evening has been organised to tie in with the changing of the clocks, which go back one hour at 2am the following morning.

Dubbed “Care o’clock”, the party aims to highlight how little time unpaid carers have for themselves.

The Swansea Mecca club created the event as part of its charity partnership with Carers Trust, which works to support unpaid carers across the UK.

Club teams fundraising conduct activities throughout the year to assist the charity in its work.

Richard Burke-lloyd, manager at Mecca Swansea, said: “The team here work tirelessly to support carers, and this is one of many activities to offer them a big thank you for the fantastic work they do.

“Britain’s unpaid carers work incredibly long hours, usually to look after a loved one.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming local carers and offering them a free evening of fun.”

Giles Meyer, chief executive of Carers Trust, said: “We’re truly appreciative of the effort Mecca club teams put into helping carers.”

Carers who would like to attend Care o’clock can register via their local Carers Trust carers’ service.
