■■There is a book talk for the Ghosts of Glamorgan publicatio­n at Barry Library on Wednesday, November 27, at 7pm. The author Karl-James Langford will for just under an hour examine some of the ghosts that haunt the old county of Glamorgan. Copies of the book will be available to purchase.

■■ The Cardiff Friends of the Welsh National Opera has organised a masterclas­s with Donald Maxwell and students from the David Seligman Opera School at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Everyone is welcome and you will have the opportunit­y to see and hear fantastic young talent at its very best. The event is at St Mary’s Church in Whitchurch, Cardiff, on Thursday, November 28. Entry is £10, pay at the door. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Refreshmen­ts are available.

■■Father David Lloyd, parish priest of St Illtyd’s Church in Newcastle, Bridgend, invites all, whether a parishione­r or not, to the Advent coffee morning and gift sale on Saturday, November 30, from 9.30am to around noon. Fr David said: “This is a traditiona­l start to a traditiona­l Christmas. ■■A coffee morning with Christmas stalls is to be held at Christchur­ch Hall located at Lake Road North, Cardiff CF23 5QN on Saturday, November 30, at 10am. All proceeds will go towards the new community hall building fund.

■■A Christmas tree festival and fayre will be held on Saturday, November 30, at All Saints Church, Cyncoed Road, Cardiff, from noon onwards. Refreshmen­ts available including turkey rolls. Stalls to include homemade cakes and Christmas presents plus games and prize raffle. Beautiful trees on display, decorated by the church groups.
