Pupils join forces to tackle bullying

PUPILS from Christ The King Primary school in Llanishen, Cardiff ran a week of events and activities to mark AntiBullyi­ng Week.

Year six pupils started the week off with an assembly where they performed a spoken piece called “all different, all equal”.

Children also took part in team building games to develop leadership skills and working together and made a “human knot” which they tried to work together to untangle.

Year four pupils worked on “solution circles” to help solve problems and develop skills of empathy and dealing with conflict.

Classes also took part in forest schools sessions where they worked as a team and listened to each other.

As part of the week Year six pupils visited a local mosque to gain understand­ing of other cultures and to celebrate diversity and four Year six pupils went to the “inspire awards” celebratin­g the best teachers and tutors in St David’s Hall.

Pupil Isaac Baraz, 10, said: “I love helping the younger children because I can inspire them to help others in the future.”

Asher Tejura, nine, said: “During Anti Bullying Week we have been given the chance to think about how our actions impact others.”

Conor Barley, six, said: “I love being the best I can be and making kind choices.”

Head teacher Rachel Woodward said: “There is nothing more important than creating an environmen­t where children feel safe, valued, loved and celebrated.”
