FACE YOUR FEARS

AFTER divorcing my husband, I decided it was time to combat my phobias: I joined a panto, when singing and dancing once terrified me. I also get a kick out of trying something new. I learned how to make clay, stone and metal sculptures on a four-day creative holiday in Wales (from £450,

ALL-IN-ONE CREAM

EVERY morning, I apply Botanics All Bright Hydrating Day Cream SPF15 (£5.24, boots.com). It’s cheap and lasts for months. It’s super light and ideal for this weather — especially during the menopause.

DESIGNER CHIC CHEAT

MY MUM was stylish and believed it was better to spend money on fewer, but good-quality, clothes. I’ve inherited this attitude. But you can be savvy and go to second-hand stores, such as Mary’s Living And Giving — a charity shop set up by Mary Portas. I found an amazing £800 patterned dress by Carven here for £150.

MIDLIFE PARTYING

I’VE always loved dancing, but only got into clubbing recently, while on holiday in Ibiza with friends — we’ve been back three times since. It’s a great way to meet new people. I also love Glastonbury and try to go to festivals at least once a year. Finding new music keeps me relevant.

TRY A CAREER BREAK

WHEN I turned 40, I decided to go around the world on a motorbike, with my then husband. I needed to shake up my life. We rode through Europe, Africa, India, Asia, America and Australia, for more than two years. It was an adrenaline rush. Since returning, my outlook has changed. I’m more fulfilled in my career and relationships, but I still travel regularly. Last year I spent Christmas in the Sinai Desert.
